Use it to create custom fractals

wow

cool fracta

thats awsome! you should make this into an audio plugin or something lol

Nice one!

Hey, when this becomes supported by apple OS then I'll definitely want this!

o

this is fake code i made it myself and it it not harmful. it probably won't even work if u try it

you are twisting my mind

did you use atleast one braincell before posting this comment

i used 0.01 braincell

For me it wont open

(+1)

i want it on chrome

Why can't I play it on the website?

There's always a problem saying that the virus scan failed.

Because it's a download

Because if your on mobile you don't have a keyboard to switch to other fractals

i'm not on mobile

Also, for laptop users, you can not hold J and move your mouse.

It would be convenient if you would let the users to choose which characters (from keyboard) do a certain action.

(1 edit)

Can you offer a keyboard character for Scroll in and out? Not all of have a mouse with scroll wheel.

Is it a virus?

no

Can this work as a plugin for Ableton? I wanna use these sounds in music production.

this was amazing , thank you

Truly one of the wildest applications of mind-boggling math I've seen in a very long time. Stuff like this really, really gets me going. Amazing work, my favorite thing on this entire website.

Could there be a version for Apple users?

(-1)

Dan where is the windows settings

WHERE

virus?

NO IT IS NOT A VIRUS

great not a malware.

(+2)

Amazing software thanks so much for sharing! I've got some ideas for "feature requests", would you prefer them on here or on the GitHub repo?

A note for Windows 10 users:
Windows manages your graphics card so FractalSoundExplorer.exe will by default run on your CPU, you have to manually specify to run it on your GPU in `Widows Settings > Graphics Settings > Graphics performance preference`. If you have an NVIDIA card you can also have a look trough your NVIDIA Control Panel settings, but if you have a decent NVIDIA card you probably already have gone through and customised your settings anyway.

If you try to run FractalSoundExplorer on your CPU it will probably seem fine until it starts to chug...

(-2)

it's a computer worm

...no

it is not a computer worm

oh.

If you want a virus go download a free minecraft

where in the code can we inject personnal fractal ?

In order to do this:

You must click the file I highlighted yellow: PEE FILE

The yellow file, don't click anything else because I don't know what the other files do lol
(+2)

Edit this values I underlines blue:

Title?

WARNING! If you mess something up it will cause a command prompt to appear, THAT MEANS YOU BROKE THE CODE SO YOU MUST GO BACK IN AND FIX IT

this is trully something awesome.
Did you have plans to make a VST out of it?

wow

oh hey

(1 edit)

ur the mandelbort set

(+2)

sound designer here to say this is mad awesome. very inspiring stuff

(+1)

o

(+3)

The only thing I can ask for is to make our own fractals. I don't think that the fractals we have are bad, but being able to create our own fractals would be a lot cooler.

(+1)

OpenGL was not meant for fractals. How did you do it? I can't even write simple shaders without my computer crashing. You are magical.

WHY IS IT ONLY ON 64 BIT??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Youre not funny for making a paragraph of question marks

(+1)(-9)

I'm not trying to be funny, I'm trying to convey the level of frustration that I'm experiencing.

(+3)(-1)

why do you have a 32-bit computer in the first place?

yeah, why not have windows 10 or something?

Yeah what if i am a poor failure? Then what? All i really can do is nothing then, lol.

I'm on Windows 7 and it's working fine, but there are some things like this that happen too.

To be honest, I just can't afford a better one.

i have wnidows 10

*You're

(+2)(-1)

I literally created this account just to tell you how much I want to punch you into the face

nice

(+1)

Why would you get mad at a correction though?

Yeah, why?

Code made that.

(+1)(-1)

guys it works if you leave the .exe file in the folder

It works even on Linux with Wine

(1 edit)

I can't seem to get past "Press any key to continue..."

Can anyone offer a way round this?

Install OpenGL. Make sure both GLSL files are in the same folder as the EXE file.

(+1)

Man wish I could run it in my browser

Rip Chromebook

(+1)(-1)

I'm on mac i can't play either

(-1)

Same :(

(+1)

Works with Wine, so you should be able to play it with PlayOnMac

(+3)

Check out my port https://www.golova.dev/experiments/fractalSounds

Rip your Chromebook GPU

Thank you for the playable on website version!

I don't get it...

(-1)

I don't get it...

I know nothing about fractals but hehe funky sounds go brrr

This is really brilliant! What a nice tool!  Very interesting to see and hear the fractal's orbits that look like polygons or polygonal chains and are usually hidden in common fractal visualisations. Thanks for uploading the code to GitHub. Question: I've seen the video and had a quick look at the code, but how again is the period of an orbit calculated and how is the frequency that we hear related to it?

This is amazing! Also on the SFX fractal you can basically just save a sound from it! So I would recommend making it so you can share the fractals as a code, very fun game

(+1)

If you created a cross platform  compatible vst/au I would buy it.. Please develop your concept further..  It looks like a brilliant first iteration of a virtual instrument.

(1 edit) (+1)

Can not get this to run, just getting a cmd window with 'press any key'. Maybe GPU is too old? Also still w7 over here. What minimum GPU do you need to run it?
The WebGL port works though.

(+1)

you have essentially invented a new form of audio synthesis.

Exactly! And it's really cool!

(+1)

This could be used to generate random sounds for scary ambiences or malfunctioning machines in films and videogames.
